Qualities of the people of Jannah
Jannah is the place of bliss where there is everything that a person can desire.
Allah says in Sura Fussilat:
We [angels] were your allies in worldly life and [are so] in the Hereafter. And you will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request [or wish]
Sura Fussilat 31
It is the everlasting place and those who Allah (SWT) admits into Jannah He will never be displeased with them.
Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Allah, the Rubb of honour and glory, will say to the inhabitants of Jannah: ‘O inhabitants of Jannah!’ They will respond: ‘Here we are! At Your service, O our Rubb. All good is in Your Hand!’ He will ask them: ‘Are you pleased?’ They will reply: ‘Why should we not be pleased, O Rubb, when You have given us what You have not given to any of Your creatures?’ Allah will say: ‘Shall I not give you something better than that?’ They will ask: ‘O Rubb! What can be better than that?’ Allah will say: ‘I shall bestow My Pleasure upon you and I shall never be displeased with you.”‘ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. Reference: Riyad as-Salihin 1894
None of us will be able to enter Jannah with our deeds alone, except by the mercy of Allah as the Prophet (PBUH) said:
Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and receive good news because one’s good deeds will not make him enter Paradise.” They asked, “Even you, O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)?” He said, “Even I, unless and until Allah bestows His pardon and Mercy on me.” Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 6467
However, we still must make an effort and do the best we can to save ourselves from the fire of Jahannam and enter Jannah. Allah says in Sura Ali ‘Imran
Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. Sura Ali ‘Imran 185
Also, we shall be rewarded in full for what we have earned in this dunya, as Allah says in Sura Najm
And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives
And that his effort is going to be seen –
Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense – Sura An-Najm 41
May Allah make us of those who are admitted into Jannah.
What are the characteristics of people of Jannah? Here are some characteristics mentioned in the Qur’an and sunnah:
TAWHEED
Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs,
[Having been told], “Enter it in peace, safe [and secure].”
And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment,1 [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.
No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.
Sura Al-Hijr 45-48
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Ayyub that a man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said:
Direct me to a deed which draws me near to Paradise and takes me away from the Fire (of Hell). Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: You worship Allah and never associate anything with Him, establish prayer, and pay Zakat, and do good to your kin. When he turned his back, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) remarked: If he adheres to what he has been ordered to do, he would enter Paradise.

TAQWA AND GOOD CHARACTER
And it will be said to those who feared Allah, “What did your Lord send down?” They will say, “[That which is] good.” For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous – Sura An Nahl 30
Here the word righteous is actually MUTTAQIN.
Taqwa and Husnul Khuluq leads to Jannah

Anas ibn Malik reported: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said, “Coming upon you now is a man from the people of Paradise.” A man from the Ansar came whose beard was disheveled by the water of ablution and he was carrying both of his shoes with his left hand. The next day the Prophet repeated the same words, and the man came in the same condition. The third day the Prophet repeated the same again, and the man came in the same condition. When the Prophet stood up to leave, Abdullah ibn Amr followed the man and he said, “I am in a dispute with my father and I have sworn not to enter my home for three days. May I stay with you?” The man said yes.
Abdullah stayed three nights with the man but he never saw him praying at night. Whenever he went to bed, he would remember Allah and rest until he woke up for morning prayer. Abdullah said that he never heard anything but good words from his mouth. When three nights had passed and he did not see anything special about his actions, Abdullah asked him, “O servant of Allah, I have not been in dispute with my father nor have I cut relations with him. I heard the Prophet say three times that a man from the people of Paradise was coming to us and then you came. I thought I should stay with you to see what you are doing that I should follow, but I did not see you do anything special. Why did the Prophet speak highly of you?” The man said, “I am as you have seen.” When Abdullah was about to leave, the man said, “I am as you have seen, except that I do not find dishonesty in my soul towards the Muslims and I do not envy anyone because of the good that Allah has given them.” Abdullah said, “This is what you have achieved and it is something we have not accomplished.” Source: Musnad Aḥmad 12286 Source: Sahih (authentic) according to Ibn Kathir
